Frequently Asked Questions

I feel like I would lose control over my billings if I outsource.  How can you assure me the billing service is doing a good job?

The first response to this question is other questions, “How much control do you have now?  How accountable is your in-office staff to you now?  How do you know your in-house staff is doing a good job?”

Chances may be that you really don’t have the control or accountability you think you have.  Providers get a false sense of security when they see a live body sitting at a desk in their immediate office space.  However, many providers have no formal audit processes in place.  They don’t review the write-off reports; don’t know if the charges all went in as provided, or when (or if) patients are getting regular statements.  They have no idea of the timeliness of work; don’t monitor the insurance aging reports on a weekly or monthly basis, and so on.

Unless the provider or a reliable designated staff member is actively reviewing all aspects of your billing staff’s work, you have no real idea how effective your staff is, the money you are losing, and the cost-benefit of having in-house staff versus outsourcing.

Our quality billing service, rated in the top 100 in the U.S., allows our providers real-time access to their accounts so that they can see what dates of service are being entered, the turn-around time from date of service to date of posting, the amount of each write-off and reason for the write-offs, status of the aging; basically any level of accountability they want.

Additionally, since all EOMBs and carrier information is scanned, the provider has access to all the same information received by the billing service.  No hiding of denials, or incorrectly submitted claims.  It’s all there at the touch of a button.

Lastly, a quality billing service will provide some basic benchmarks that they hope to achieve for your practice.  No billing service can provide written guarantees but most professional services know their track record so can pretty much tell you what your practice can expect if both parties work together and fulfill their respective responsibilities.
